State Senator Steve Gooch Talks About Economic Development in Rural Georgia
Politics April 24, 2017This past Friday we continued our discussion about rural Georgia with 51st district (R) State Senator and Lumpkin County’s economic development director, Steve Gooch. Our three areas of focus: rural Georgia economy, broadband access, and health care. Although the district doesn’t want to see something in the line of the KIA plant they most certainly would be open to small companies offering high paying, high tech jobs. In order to attract these types of companies; the area must provide good schools, fast internet, and quality health care. We discussed Piedmont Mountainside new stand alone emergency health care center in Gilmer County; a model for quality health care in rural areas. When our discussion turned to high speed internet for the area, Gooch was unable to say they “moved the ball” concerning Senate Bill 232, Facilitating Internet Broadband Rural Expansion (FIBRE) Act.

Senator David Perdue Discusses Immigration & Health Care With Laura Ingraham
Politics, State & National September 22, 2017Senator David Perdue Discusses Immigration & Health Care With Laura Ingraham
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator David Perdue (R-GA) joined The Laura Ingraham Show to discuss President Trump’s address at the United Nations General Assembly meeting, health care, and why the RAISE Act should be included in any Congressional solution to fix our country’s immigration problems.
Click here to listen to the interview.
Leading Again: “President Trump is reengaging with the rest of the world. He’s doing two things: One, he’s telling our allies that we’re going to be there for them. But, more importantly, he’s telling other people – who are doing nefarious things – what’s important to America.”
Leveling The Playing Field: “I’ve worked in Asia and Europe. I’ve dealt with these archaic trade rules all of my career. Job one right now is getting our economy going again, and getting on a level playing field with the rest of the world is one of the best ways to do it.”
Fixing Health Care: “At this point, given the terrible nature of the structure of Obamacare and given that we failed several weeks ago in repealing Obamacare, it’s very difficult to get a perfect solution. I’m afraid that this bill is the only thing standing between us and a single payer system, and that’s a real concern.”
Securing America: “The wall has got to be there. We’re going to find a way. This is a precept that got President Trump elected, and we’re not going to stop fighting for that. It’s a national security issue.”
RAISE Act Proven To Work: “The RAISE Act moves us to an immigration system based on merit, just like Canada and Australia. They’ve had this for decades and they’re attracting the best and brightest of the world.”
Collins Statement on the American Health Care Act
Featured, News March 24, 2017WASHINGTON—Today the House of Representatives did not vote on the American Health Care Act as part of Republicans’ comprehensive health care reform plan. Congressman Doug Collins (R-Ga.), Vice Chair of the House Republican Conference, is an attorney and Air Force Reserve chaplain representing one of the most conservative districts in the nation. Collins has issued the following statement in response:
“I am proud to have stood with President Trump to repeal and replace the law that has hurt American families and replaced their freedom with federal mandates. Yet I find myself frustrated and grieved that so many Republicans refused to act according to their professed principles.
Because I am convinced that human life and dignity deserve fierce protection under the law, I am unable to understand how many of my colleagues allowed political myopia to prevent them from supporting the opportunity to defund America’s largest abortion peddler. Because of the decisions of a few members, we remain mired in a health system that is able neither to care for our neighbors nor to protect unborn Americans.”
