EAST ELLIJAY, Ga. – “We are extremely proud to partner with Ellijay Telephone Company to expand broadband access,” said U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development Georgia State Director Joyce White as she announced a $4.4 million investment grant into Gilmer County through ETC.
Holding a celebratory ceremony on February 7, 2020, ETC shareholders, administrators, and a group of employees were joined by numerous officials from Georgia’s State Government and the USDA to both announce the award and celebrate the accomplishment.
As a part of the USDA’s ReConnect Pilot Program, ETC’s application over the last year has “persevered,” as said by White during the ceremony. The grant they receive will provide $4.4 million to support the construction of 90 miles of fiber-optic cable infrastructure in Gilmer County.
Jason Smith, COO of ETC, said the service extension is going to be providing “1 Gig Fiber Broadband.” He went on to add, “The total project is estimated at $5.9 million, $4.4 [million] of that will be provided by the grant and almost $1.5 [million] is provided by ETC.”
The program is set to incorporate 2,159 households, two community facilities, and an Educational facility. Additionally, there have been 25 businesses and 24 farms pre-subscribed to the service.
House Speaker David Ralston spoke at the ceremony about the great need for better internet and high-speed broadband connections as the foundation of improvements in education, transportation, and healthcare. He noted key points like telemedicine and farming as specific examples. Ralston threw his support behind the application with a letter of support for ETC during the application process. He said he wanted to salute ETC’s efforts and called the program a part of efforts to revitalize rural Georgia.
State Sen. Steve Gooch also wrote a letter of support for ETC’s application. He spoke at the ceremony of the need for the internet’s infrastructure for industry and economic development as well. Gooch said attracting new businesses and industry are among the first question when companies scout new locations. He said questions about providers, speed, reliability, and hubs are always among the initial questions interested parties would ask.
Gooch also echoed Ralston’s words about education as he shared his experience from his travels around the state hearing from community leaders. He said they told him about families in their communities when kids were sent home with homework to be done online. Parents would have to drive the kids back into town to a library or business with wifi to complete their homework assignments. Gooch said responding to these challenges is easier when private companies partner with the public interests to achieve success. Gooch said, “This is one success story, but we need thousands of others just like it.”
Parts of those challenges include the costs of preliminary and ground-work of projects like this do not compare to the number of houses or facilities reached. ETC’s Jason Smith noted these challenges as he said the estimated costs of this project reach $65,000 per mile. He said, “When you consider that many of our most rural areas have less than five homes per mile, it is easy to see why a grant plays such a vital role in broadband deployment.”
Smith went on to say that the grant award is an early step in the project. With funding, he wants ETC to move forward quickly but said the project will not happen overnight. With an estimated timeline of five years to complete the expansion. However, Smith said that ETC is hoping to reach goals to reduce that time by one year if possible.
The ReConnect Program offers funding options through loans, grants, and combinations of the two in order to facilitate broadband deployment in “areas of rural America that don’t currently have sufficient access to broadband,” according to the USDA’s website and ReConnect Program Informational.
In March 2018, the USDA reports that Congress provided $600 million to them to expand broadband infrastructure and services in Rural America. On December 13, 2018, Secretary Perdue announced the rules of his ReConnect program and the loans and grants involved. They received 146 applications between May 31, 2019, and July 12, 2019, requesting $1.4 billion in total funding.
Additionally, Perdue announced in December 2019 that the USDA will continue ReConnect through another round of applications in 2020 and will fund another $550 million through the program.
Skilled politicians can propagandize people to accept their own slavery, and even demand
more. Hitler did it with apparent ease. Unorganized push back is ineffective and if dangerous to
the state and the state feels threatened, it will turn tyrannical to save itself. Keep your guns.
The unpleasantness now growing on the streets of Paris, reflect a tax push back by a once
moribund French population for whom any more compliance has hit a wall. They have just about
had all the socialist crap they can take. French President Macrons casual increase in fuel taxes,
in support of fighting global warming, blew up in his face and he’s backed down. The riots on the
streets of Paris are predictable precursors to the unloading of a whole host of other grievances
against European socialist engineering that has seduced the people to accept an ideology foreign
to their human nature, their culture and their best interests. Global socialism is starting to
unravel. Even in their anger, the French rioters are calling out “Trump, Trump, Trump.” Well?
The toad, Macron is part of the New World Order crowd that demands Eastern European
countries, who are adamantly refusing to participate, accept their fair share of Islamic migrants
for the good of European economic production. The Europeans have been propagandized into
accepting these hostile foreign workers because of the low birthrates in host countries. That
problem, like here in America, is caused by the enacted Socialists schemes for selected
population control through infanticide (abortion), doctor-assisted suicides and, for the elderly,
denial of medical services after a certain age.
People understand that when those Islamic rascals move into their host countries they
immediately set about demanding, by threats and violence, that host governments accept their
demands for Shariah Laws. They create “no-go zones” and also expect the passive acceptance
of the Islamization of that country by demanding hate crime laws to punish infidels who refuse to
comply with their submission to Islamic enslavement. Make no mistake, Islam is not your friend.
Statistics now show that most of these people don’t work but live off the social welfare programs
of the host country, paid for by the taxpayers, while they engage in the Islamic subversion of the
host populations. I think the French people have about had all they can stand of that too.
It’s working like that in America too. Consider those millennial age students who are turning
toward Democrat socialism espoused by the likes of Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren
among others. Sanders and Warren are from the old school of American socialists that practiced
subversion by stealth, through the implementation of “Common Core” educational programs, the
seating of Jurists who are willing to impose feel good laws that are unconstitutional, and through
the wholesale attempts to impose government mandated healthcare.
To prevent the citizens from noticing what the “elites” are doing, it’s necessary for them to
distract us with nonsense. The Leftist propaganda machine, the Main Stream Media, is in
business to do just that. Fretting over natural occurrences and trifles while the Deep State
continues its negative narrative to implicate President Trump in wrongdoing while exculpating
the real source of evil, Hillary Clinton and her cabal of potential codefendants.
Americans who see this, instinctively understand that if this phony Mueller Investigation works to
remove President Trump from office upon a manufactured pretense, but fails to pursue the
Clintons/Obama crime syndicate, then the danger exists that the American people just might
take a note from the brave French standing up to the EU’s Socialist machine that is killing them,
and do the same. That’s why they want our guns.
I have very little faith in our political party’s or their politicians, except for the President, to do the
right thing. Americans, enough of them to make Donald Trump the President, will absolutely not
countenance his removal by the “Deep State” criminals trying to protect themselves by removing
Here, the law of unintended consequences of their legislations will be noticeable. To make a law
that’s is contrary to the best interests of America, then make another law to repair the damage,
is to create the impression they are doing something worthy. This too will not go unnoticed
The world, especially Europe and the United States, are on the cusp of the greatest effort by the
New World Order crowd of international bankers and political leaders, to steal our liberties and
our production for no good purpose at all save to satisfy a “elites” desire to hold power over all.
Apart from their open borders initiatives that expects all countries (especially America) to accept
the entry of any and all immigrants without exception, their next step will be the coming
economic crisis for which Trump will be blamed.
To fix that ‘false flag’ crisis they will encourage the acceptance of their phony “cryptocurrency”
that, once accepted, will become the valueless currency of the New World Order. We will soon
become a cashless society and when that happens, our enslavement will be complete. Think
about that! It could be just around the corner.
Remember, Liberty is the goal, the Constitution is the way. Now, go get ‘em! (10Dec18)
The Democrat tergiversation of their once rock-solid position on illegal immigration and how to
protect our country from it is so shameful that it shocks the very foundations of our long and
respected adherence to republican constitutionalism. The shame! The Left isn’t shamed!
Good ol’ Harry Reid, the hypocrite, when he was Senate Majority Leader, once spoke out
eloquently on the subject saying that America had a duty to protect its borders and should do so
by changing the law to forbid the idea of anchor babies as legitimate American citizens as the
14th amendment was then, and still is, interpreted. “If you grant citizenship to children of parents
who have no lawful right to be in the United States, you’ll get more would-be parents attempting
to enter the United States unlawfully.” Thousands are approaching our border right now.
Harry even wrote a law for consideration. Reid’s 1993 proposal was intended to try to change
the meaning of the Fourteenth Amendment by an Act of Congress, i.e.: a law. The basis of
Reid’s proposal was to: “declare that any person born after the date of enactment of this title to
a mother who is neither a citizen of the United States nor admitted to the United States as a
lawful permanent resident, and which person is a national or citizen of another country of which
either of his or her natural parents is a national or citizen or is entitled upon application to
become a national or citizen of such country, shall be considered as born subject to the
jurisdiction of that foreign country and not subject to the jurisdiction of the United States within
the meaning of section 1 of such Article and shall therefore not be a citizen of the United States
or of any State solely by reason of physical presence within the United States at the moment of
birth.” Well, obviously that didn’t catch hold but, if it had it would have then presented another
problem for the flip-flopping Democrats, how to get rid of it.
Senator, Barak Obama, once defended actions that would deny America birthrights to children
of illegal gate crashers. Then he signed DACA. How do you spell hypocrisy? Democrat?
Trump tossed out a signal that he would cease the practice of legalizing anchor babies born in
America to illegal mothers by executive order and, predictably, the left and its media went nuts
again. Trump is trolling them and they rise to his bait. There is an old saying that cautions:
“Never argue with an idiot because he’ll drag you down to his level and beat you to death with
his experience.” That might as well be said for Donald Trump. Don’t try to argue with him or
match him in the field of hardball argument. You’ll lose and look stupid doing it.
One of the arguments now rising asks how Trump’s Supreme Court would handle this issue if
the Congress actually passed a law forbidding the legitimation of birthright babies as US
citizens. It is suggested they would take their good time in serious debate and consideration and
probably find the law unconstitutional. In fact, an 1800’s era Supreme Court actually did so. But,
as constitutionalists, we know that can change because we also know that Roe vs. Wade is
unconstitutional and will, hopefully someday soon, find itself on the ash heap of liberal mistakes.
I mean, murder is murder, isn’t it? How does a potential real US citizen have the opportunity to
experience the constitutional guarantees of Life, Liberty and pursuit of happiness if they are
shredded in the womb before they even have the chance to find out? Just asking!
The Supreme Court cannot change the Constitution, only the laws that do not fit within its
construct. But, neither can they legislate. That’s not their job. This issue highlights the problem
of judicial activism that is the real danger to America. Maybe we can kill two birds with one
stone! Remember, freedom is the goal, the constitution is the way. No, go vote! (31Oct18)
According to the news media, no one likes Trump. Women hate Trump, African
Americans hate Trump, Latinos and on and on it goes.
That is why it is strange when the news shows a Trump Rally.
The arena is packed cheek by jowl in supporters. All are waving signs like Women for Trump,
Blacks for Trump etc. Outside the administration has to put up big screens like at a rock concert
for the overflow of people who will not fit in the venue.
In fact, for the Cruz rally in Texas, President Trump had to move to a larger event center in order
to accommodate the “unprecedented demand for tickets.”
Of course, no one does size like Texas, but the rally filled the Toyota Center in Houston and had
a huge tailgate/picnic of followers outside watching the screens.
If it is as Rosie O’Donnell says and these people are paid to attend, that must get pretty pricey.
(I have attended one of his rallies. I didn’t get a dime. I did get harassed by the protestors of
which the police politely watched. Later, I listened to the evening news and learned that there
were copious quantities of protestors and very few attendees to the rally. I saw about 150
protestors and the venue was full in every seat, plus the open floor was crammed with people as
Those two who will not go away, the also-rans, Obama and Southern border have had less
success in drawing a crowd lately.
In September, even in liberal California, Obama was only able to draw seven hundred and fifty
people to his ant-Trump rally in Anaheim.
Yes, a long time ago, before the public realized that he was smooth talking, treacherous, empty
promises, bag of wind, Obama could also draw quite a few people. Actions, which always speak
louder than words, must have betrayed him and perhaps his base has fled to the new prosperity
that America is enjoying now.
Hillary never could fill a venue when she was running for president anyway. The photographers
had to push all the people into a corner at times to get a shot of a “crowd.”
The media is in constant denial of the obvious difference in the number of people who are drawn
to these rallies.
Last Tuesday, the day after a Trump rally, CNN was running a tape that read,” Trump tells lies
and spreads fear before the election.”
Trump was referring to a “caravan” of about 5000 or so people headed for out Southern border.
So far, the group has grown in size exponentially. They have crashed through the borders of
Guatemala and Mexico. The governments there seem unable to stop them.
Trump suggests that perhaps the Democrats and George Soros had something to do with the
funding of the mass of people. That is his supposed “lie.”
However, it gives all the appearance of being a true statement.
Has anyone heard the first word or peep from the Democrats against this invasion?
NOTHING, NOT ONE WORD!
It is not a caravan of poor immigrants, humbly seeking asylum in order to be free.
No, when a foreign body comes bearing the flag of their country, cursing the President saying
“f*** Trump” to reporters and demanding entrance, it is an INVASION!”
These people appear well fed, they are clean and well dressed. They are purchasing merchandise
like televisions and food along the way. They are being bussed and given transport.
Where is all the money coming from to finance this venture?
The President has said he will deport regular troops to the border if necessary to stop these
people from coming across our borders.
All the bleeding heart liberals are complaining and wanting to be compassionate. They say the
President doesn’t have the right to deploy troops in defense of the border.
This is incorrect!
In 1952, The Immigration and Nationality Act was passed by Congress, clause 2012 of this bill
gives the President the power to use US troops as necessary to keep foreigners out of the United
It is the primary responsibility of the President to protect the citizens of the United States.
It is rumored that criminals and others with a nefarious agenda are numbered among the group
moving to the border.
If the Mexican government fails to stop this flow of people, President Trump will have no choice
but to stop it with force.
Other than Nancy Pelosi and some of her minions, most people want this surge stopped.
The United States cannot support the world or allow people who are either up to no good, or just
want a free ride to destroy our economy and nation.

While the political world is focused on the lunacy in Washington DC, conservative, pro-
English voters in Georgia’s 14th congressional district may have an interest in Republican
Congressman Tom Graves’ very curious and un-conservative anti-English stance.
HR 997 – the English Unity Act – was introduced last year in the U.S. House by conservative
Steve King. The legislation establishes English as the official language of the United States.
The bill is often falsely described as “English only” when in fact it is “English as official” –
not “only.” Comprende?
Readers can learn more about the official English movement bt visiting the non-profit
Also in the legislation:
*Naturalization ceremonies and official functions of the U.S. government, subject to
exceptions, must be conducted in English.
*The bill declares that all citizens should be able to read and understand generally the
English language text of U.S. laws.
*A person injured by a violation of this bill may obtain relief, including a declaratory
judgment, in a civil action.
*English language requirements and workplace policies, whether in the public or private
sector, shall be presumptively consistent with U.S. laws. Any ambiguity in U.S. laws shall be
resolved in accordance with the rights retained by the people and the powers reserved to
states under the Bill of Rights.
*The Department of Homeland Security shall issue a proposed rule for uniform testing of
the English language ability of candidates for naturalization based upon the principles that:
(1) all citizens should be able to read and understand generally the English language text of
the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the laws of the United States; and (2)
any exceptions to this standard should be limited to extraordinary circumstances, such as
The little-known fact is that the United States has no official language, despite huge public
support for official English. It is worth noting that the U.S. and Georgia Chambers of
Commerce are stridently opposed to this nationally unifying concept.
Maybe that is why Graves has repeatedly refused to help with the passage of this commonsense
and voter-popular bill by co-sponsoring and is on record as telling political pundit Phil Kent
that “this is not one of my top priorities right now.”
It wasn’t a priority last year or the year before either.
As readers no doubt are aware, all congressmen enjoy feedback and contact from
constituents. Maybe readers can move support for official English up Congressman Tom
Graves priority list with a respectful but firm phone call to his Washington DC office. The
phone number there is (202) 225-5211.
It could very well be that Mr. Graves doesn’t think you know anything about this issue.

The bitter vitriol that was the funeral of Senator John McCain was a celebration of the
coming together of all Trump haters and bashing him in a second-hand swipe disguised as
Most likely, Senator McCain, would have enjoyed the day and approved the tone of his last
His daughter, Meghan McCain, spewed out the most acerbic comment of all taking aim at the
agenda and good works of the President.
“America has no need to be made great again because America has always been great.”
Yes, Meghan, America is great, has always been great, but the last decade has seen her decline in
economics, morality, manufacturing, trade deficits, crime, immigration issues and available jobs
at a living wage.
Now, it stands to reason that the very wealthy felt no more than a bump or two in the road during
the Great Recession of 2008.
Meghan McCain would be one of those fortunate enough to avoid financial crisis. That comes
from having a senator father, a Navel admiral grandfather and great-grandfather.
The family compound in Arizona is well known, and doors will open for an educated young
woman with the surname of McCain or Clinton.
The others who joined in the drive-by criticism included former presidents Bush and Obama,
along with members of high rank from within their previous administrations.
Again, the Great Recession and Financial Crisis did little to their portfolio, and America
remained great to them as well, at least in their financial quality of life. In fact, they probably
came out somewhat ahead.
(Even though Michelle Obama was never proud of her country until her husband ran for the
presidency, and most of the speakers who have held power seem to have some sort of disdain for
America, its values and its citizens. Not only are we deplorable, now Joe Biden has called up the
dregs of society.)
Many may not know that in 2008 Henry Paulson, then Treasury Secretary and former Goldman –
Sachs CEO, got together for a little “heads up” for his former Goldman – Sachs colleagues and
some other Wall Street and hedge fund managers. Prior to the crash, he let them know that they
needed to move and protect their investments and clients because the financial collapse was
about to happen.
Thanks man, insider trading is great when you are tipped off. Though this happens all the time, it
is barely legal and the average layperson would probably go to jail over it.
People like my neighbor who had worked at one company since he was eighteen and lost ninety
thousand dollars out of his 401K because of the 2008 financial crisis.
Ninety thousand dollars is peanuts to the people Paulson tipped off, but it is everything to a
working person who has labored to contribute to the fund that is to take care of them through
retirement. Had he been the beneficiary of this inside news, he could have moved his savings to a
safe, insured bank account with minimal interest, but the principal could have stayed intact.
How about the ones that lost their homes due to the real estate bubble. The average person didn’t
know it was about to pop, but insiders did. Those whose wealth was protected benefitted
tremendously from the foreclosure fiasco. They gobbled up homes at bargain prices, shifting the
wealth of home equity from a working family to another rich person’s pocket.
What about unemployment?
The unemployment rate was high in 2008 and 2009. Jobs left the country, businesses cut
employees and there was little to no money for the average person. In a consumer-driven
economy, that is bad news.
While I am firmly for capitalism, and I abhor those who want to complain that the “man” has
held them down for one reason or another, and they didn’t have a chance to succeed.
This crisis was orchestrated by the “powers that be” for the largest transfer of wealth in the
history of the United States. It was designed to destroy the middle-class working person and
create a two class society. Those that have and those who have not.
The thing that has always made America great is the opportunity for ANYONE to succeed if
they work hard enough.
I worked for a man who emigrated from Cuba during Castro’s rise to power. He came to the
United States with fifty dollars, a wife and a baby. He and his wife worked tirelessly and built a
successful business. He was the most adamant US patriot and always advised us to never let the
government take the people’s guns. Castro did that and the people were left defenseless to his
Another example was a man who came here from Bulgaria. He told me that if he could come
here with limited money, not much English and make a living, there was no reason why a person
who was brought up here, had all the free schooling and a great command of the language
I couldn’t agree more, however, when the jobs are gone, how is a person to work.
The two administrations before President Trump are the reason that the sixty million deplorable
voters put him in the White House.
The elected officials had shown little regard for their constituents and did more for themselves
than anyone else.
In answer to Meghan McCain’s vengeful tirade, you are your father’s daughter and no one is
surprised at your lack of class. Your actions say much more about you than our President.
U. S. PENITENTIARY LIEUTENANT ARRAIGNED ON EXCESSIVE FORCE
AND OBSTRUCTION OF JUSTICE CHARGES
ATLANTA – Lieutenant Gregory McLeod, a senior correctional officer at the U.S. Penitentiary in Atlanta, Georgia, has been arraigned following an investigation of an allegation that McLeod used excessive force against an inmate in 2016. McLeod was indicted by a federal grand jury on October 24, 2017, and has been charged with unnecessarily assaulting the inmate, writing two false official accounts about the encounter, and lying to federal investigators about his conduct.
“We recognize that detention officers have a difficult job as they maintain order and protect inmates in our nation’s prisons,” said U.S. Attorney Byung J. “BJay” Pak. “This officer, however, allegedly abused his power, committed a violent and unnecessary assault on an inmate, and then filed a false report to cover up the incident.”
“The FBI continues to play a vital role in ensuring that all credible allegations of civil rights violations involving law enforcement officers are appropriately investigated. That was certainly the case with U.S. Bureau of Prisons Lt. McLeod, wherein allegations of excessive force were received, resulting in a federal investigation, grand jury indictment, and today’s arraignment in federal court. The FBI would like to remind the public, however, that the vast majority of law enforcement officers and corrections officers provide admirable services while often under stressful and time constrained situations,” said David J. LeValley, Special Agent in Charge, FBI Atlanta Field Office.
According to U.S. Attorney Pak, the indictment, and other information presented in court: McLeod, who worked as a supervisor at the prison, allegedly strip-searched an inmate in his office in front of three other correctional officers. After the inmate complained that the strip-search was taking too long, McLeod repeatedly punched the inmate in his face, injuring him. Following the assault, McLeod wrote an incident report and a separate memorandum about the encounter in which he falsely claimed that the inmate swung a closed fist at McLeod and attempted to assault other officers before the officers could apply hand and leg restraints. The indictment charges that McLeod used excessive force and thereby violated the inmate’s constitutional rights. The indictment also accuses McLeod of intentionally impeding and obstructing the investigation of the incident by writing false reports and lying to two federal agents.
Gregory McLeod, 44, of East Point, Georgia, was arraigned on these charges during a hearing in federal court before U.S. Magistrate Judge Catherine M. Salinas.
Members of the public are reminded that the indictment only contains charges. The defendant is presumed innocent of the charges and it will be the government’s burden to prove the defendant’s guilt beyond a reasonable doubt at trial.
This case is being investigated by the DOJ Office of Inspector General and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Brent Alan Gray and DOJ Civil Rights Division Trial Attorney Mary J. Hahn are prosecuting the case.

ATLANTA – Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge) attended President Trump’s infrastructure announcement at The White House this morning. Speaker Ralston was one of several local and state elected officials invited to participate in a series of discussions with the President as well as members of his cabinet and senior staff about the plan and the infrastructure needs facing our nation.
“I appreciate President Trump’s emphasis on public-private partnerships, as well as rural areas of America, as we look to address the nation’s infrastructure needs,” said Speaker Ralston. “Much like his Tax Cuts & Jobs Act, this measure will make a real difference in projects of profound economic importance like the Savannah Harbor Expansion Project or long-overdue efforts like expanding broadband infrastructure into rural areas. This is another example of President Trump focusing on creating jobs and expanding economic opportunity across our country. I am honored to represent the State of Georgia at this important announcement.”
President Trump’s infrastructure plan looks to leverage the power of public-private partnerships to improve the nation’s infrastructure including transportation, water/sewer and other critical needs like broadband internet access. More details on the President’s plan are available on The White House website at http://www.whitehouse.gov.
Decatur, GA – The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is issuing a public safety alert
regarding illegal synthetic opioids. In the last four months, 17 deaths have been caused by the
drugs U-47700 and/or furanyl fentanyl, equal to the number for all of 2016. U-47700 and
furanyl fentanyl are both Schedule I drugs and used in the same manner as heroin. Schedule I
drugs have a high potential for abuse and no currently accepted medical treatment use in the
United States. The drugs are distributed in either powder or tablet form.
The GBI Crime Lab has received approximately 50 cases containing U-47700 and furanyl
fentanyl this year. Many of the cases contained three or four different additional opiates.
Because furanyl fentanyl and U-47700 are lethal at very low doses, law enforcement and the
public should use caution when handling these drugs. They can be inhaled or absorbed through
the skin and are extremely toxic in the smallest quantities.
U-47700 or furanyl fentanyl may cause symptoms such as shallow breathing, pinpoint pupils,
nausea or vomiting, dizziness, lethargy, cold or clammy skin, loss of consciousness, and/or heart
failure. Should someone come in contact with the drugs and an overdose is suspected,
administer Naloxone immediately and call 911. Multiple doses of Naloxone may be required.
One Metro-Atlanta law enforcement agency recently seized approximately 8 kilograms of the
furanyl fentanyl GBI Crime Lab and U-47700 mixture. A field test of the drugs was initially negative before
GBI Crime Lab testing identified the substance. The danger and complexity of the opioids led to
the GBI issuing a statewide officer safety alert. Law enforcement has been warned to use
extreme caution and utilize personal protective equipment when handling or packaging any
Due to the diligence of the Georgia General Assembly, legislation was introduced this year to
ban both U-47700 and furanyl fentanyl. The Governor signed this law and it went into effect on
4/17/2017 upon his signature.
