HART COUNTY, Ga. — A woman wanted on kidnapping-related warrants out of Maryland was arrested Monday night in Hart County after deputies conducted a felony traffic stop on Interstate 85, resulting in the safe recovery of two children.

According to the Hart County Sheriff’s Office, deputies received a Be On the Lookout (BOLO) alert at approximately 8:46 p.m. on July 6 regarding a vehicle traveling north on Interstate 85. The driver was believed to be wanted on outstanding kidnapping-related warrants issued in Maryland.

Deputies located the vehicle near Exit 177 on Interstate 85 and, with assistance from the Georgia State Patrol, conducted a felony traffic stop. Authorities said the driver was taken into custody without incident.

The driver was identified as Alicia Denise Brown, 37, of Atlanta. Two young children were found inside the vehicle and were safely recovered. Officials said neither child was injured.

According to the sheriff’s office, Brown is wanted by the Baltimore County Police Department on warrants related to the disappearance of a 10-year-old child who was reported missing in 2019. She is also wanted by the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office on felony charges of Interference with Child Custody.

Authorities confirmed that both sets of warrants remain valid, and Maryland officials have advised they will seek Brown’s extradition.

Sheriff Chris Carroll credited the coordinated response between multiple agencies for the successful outcome.

“We are thankful for the quick response and teamwork of our deputies, the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, the Georgia State Patrol, and all assisting agencies,” Carroll said. “Their coordinated efforts resulted in the safe recovery of both children and the successful apprehension of the suspect.”

Brown remains in custody pending extradition proceedings. No additional information has been released.
