FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ga. – A Carnesville man was arrested after investigators reportedly found methamphetamine, psilocybin mushrooms and nine firearms during a search of a Burnette Road residence in Franklin County.

According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the GBI Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office, with assistance from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, conducted the search on Tuesday, Sept. 22.

Investigators reportedly located approximately 15 grams of methamphetamine, 40 grams of psilocybin mushrooms and nine firearms during the search.

Phillip Kanthak of Carnesville was arrested and charged with:

• Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute
• Possession of Psilocybin Mushrooms with Intent to Distribute
• Nine counts of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon

The charges remain allegations, and Kanthak is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
