FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ga. – A traffic stop in Franklin County led to a multi-agency drug investigation that resulted in the seizure of approximately 495 grams of methamphetamine and multiple arrests, authorities said.

The investigation began Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2026, when the Canon Police Department conducted a traffic stop in the area of State Route 17 and Spring Street with assistance from the Georgia State Patrol.

According to authorities, a GSP K9 was deployed during the stop and alerted to the presence of illegal drugs inside the vehicle. A trafficking amount of methamphetamine was subsequently located.

The occupants were identified as Clifton Ellison and Jeremy Davis, both of Elberton.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office (GBI-ARDEO) responded after the Canon Police Department requested assistance with the investigation.

Investigators subsequently developed information that led them to a residence on Martin Villa Road in Elberton.

The Elbert County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from GBI-ARDEO and the Georgia Department of Community Supervision, conducted a search of the property. Authorities said an additional trafficking amount of methamphetamine was discovered at the residence.

A woman found at the property was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug-related objects.

In total, approximately 495 grams of methamphetamine, prescription medication and multiple drug-related objects were recovered during the investigation, authorities said.

Ellison and Davis are being held at the Franklin County Detention Center and are also expected to face charges in Elbert County.

Authorities credited the Canon Police Department, GBI-ARDEO, Georgia State Patrol, Georgia Department of Community Supervision, Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and Elbert County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in the investigation.
