PICKENS COUNTY, Ga. – Pickens County deputies are investigating a threatening social media post that circulated among students this morning.
According to the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office, campus law enforcement was alerted around 8:30 a.m. to posts on TikTok that appeared on students’ “For You” pages. Investigators say the account behind the post is still being identified.
The Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division is working with state and federal authorities to track down the source of the threat.
Despite the nature of the posts, officials emphasized there is no credible danger to student safety. Schools in the district remained secure throughout the day, with deputies maintaining a visible presence on campuses to reassure parents, students, and staff.
“Our priority is always the safety of our students and school communities,” Sheriff Donnie Craig said in a statement. “We will exhaust every resource to identify who is behind this threat and hold them accountable.”
The Sheriff’s Office said additional updates will be provided as the investigation moves forward.
