Intruder Shot After Altercation at Vacant Elbert County Residence

ELBERT COUNTY, Ga. – A man was shot after allegedly attempting to assault a property owner at a vacant residence in Bowman on Monday, Sept. 21, according to the Elbert County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to a residence on Bowers Street following a report of shots fired.

During the investigation, deputies determined that the property owner encountered a male subject inside the vacant residence. According to investigators, the man attempted to assault the homeowner, resulting in an altercation between the two individuals.

Shots were fired during the altercation, and the male intruder was struck before fleeing the scene.

Deputies located the man a short time later. He received medical treatment before being transported to a hospital with what authorities described as non-life-threatening injuries.

The man was reported to be in stable condition and remains in the custody of the Elbert County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident remains under investigation. The sheriff’s office said additional information will be released as it becomes available.
