Gilmer County School Bus Crash on Whitepath Road Sends Five Students and Driver to Hospitals for Evaluations

GILMER COUNTY, Ga. – A Gilmer County school bus was involved in a single-vehicle accident Tuesday morning in the area of Whitepath Road near Riverbend Road, causing a road closure and an emergency response.

According to officials, five students and the bus driver were on board at the time of the incident.

All occupants were removed from the bus and evaluated by medical personnel at the scene.

The students and the driver were later transported to area hospitals with reported minor injuries.

Emergency responders, including local fire, EMS, and law enforcement, responded to the scene and assisted the Georgia State Patrol, which is leading the investigation into the crash.

Whitepath Road was temporarily shut down in the area as crews worked the scene, and motorists were advised to avoid the area and expect delays.

Gilmer County Schools expressed appreciation for the quick response and assistance provided by local first responders and law enforcement personnel.
