County Commissioners approve repair of Fire Station No. 2 parking lot

WHITE COUNTY, Ga. — The Board of Commissioners approved a contract with All About Asphalt of Athens for the rehabilitation of the parking lot at Fire Station No. 2  on Duncan Bridge Road in the amount of $192,400.

Derek Canupp explained the project which includes the repair of the concrete slab inside the fire station, which he said is so badly cracked that water has made its way under the footing of the building. The project also calls for the addition of two concrete slabs outside the bay doors and striping. The county went out for bids on the project but All About Asphalt was the lone bidder.

The Board also agreed to bid out a contract for the Barrett Mill Road aluminum box culvert purchase and replacement in the estimated amount of $192,887. The road washed out and repairs were made, but it washed out a second time.

The Board also issued a proclamation to the White County Chamber of Commerce designating May 1-7 as Business Week in White County.
