PRESS RELEASE – Pickens Fire was dispatched to a brush/woods fire Tuesday, March 26, where a tree fell on power lines on Hwy. 53 near Dragon Drive.
Upon arrival of first unit, it was reported there were two separate fires and there were electrical wires down on the ground.
First arriving crews began initial suppression efforts to control the perimeter of the fire and protecting two structures until electrical crews could arrive and ensure the power lines were not energized.
Amicalola EMC arrived on scene and began repair work on the lines. Fire crews then completely extinguished the fire.
There were no injuries with this fire. Units operating at the scene were Med 2, Engine 20, Battalion 11, Tender 11, County Fire Marshal 1 & 2 and 1100.
