PICKENS COUNTY, Ga. — An aircraft experiencing reported engine problems made an emergency landing at Pickens County Airport on Sept. 19, according to Pickens Fire.
Pickens Fire was dispatched to the airport around 12:45 p.m. after receiving a report that the aircraft was experiencing engine trouble and possibly on fire. The aircraft was expected to arrive at the airport within approximately two to three minutes.
As fire crews arrived at the airport, the aircraft was touching down on the north end of the runway. The aircraft reportedly touched down at approximately 105 mph.
The pilot was able to bring the aircraft to a stop and taxi off the runway at the south end without incident.
Firefighters found no fire when they arrived, and no injuries were reported.
According to Pickens Fire, the pilot successfully guided the aircraft to a safe landing.
