14-year-old arrested in shooting investigation

ELBERT COUNTY, Ga.- According to Elberton Police, a shooting that occurred Monday, April 22, resulted in injuries sustained by a 17-year-old onlooker who was not a part of the initial dispute.

As a result in a 14-year-old suspect has been arrested in connection with the shooting.

“The 14-year-old Juvenile who was arrested the night of the shooting has received his first Court appearance and has been remanded to a Youth Detention Center until trial,” reported the Elberton Police Department.

The 17-year-old victim was released from the hospital the night of the incident and ‘is expected to make a full recovery.’

“Through the investigation, it was determined that Christopher Lydell Thomas Jr. age 18 also fired shots with a weapon into the crowd and was charged and arrested on several Aggravated Assault charges along with other criminal acts. He turned himself over to law enforcement Thursday evening, April 25, and is currently awaiting a bond hearing at the Elbert County Detention Center,” according to the report.

Trontaveous Latrez Mattox, 20, has been identified as a third person of interest in the investigation.

Mattox has turned himself in and he is currently awaiting bond.
