WHITFIELD COUNTY, Ga. – A deadly dispute took place early in the morning on Friday, Nov. 24, resulting in one man dead.
William Holmes, 43, of Whitfield County was arrested after one man was found dead at a residence at 531 Patton Street.
Allegedly, Holmes was at the scene initially to escort a woman receiving her belongings from an ex-boyfriend when a dispute broke out around 2:30 a.m.
During the dispute Holmes exited his vehicle and joined the dispute earn a fight broke out between him and the victim.
According to preliminary information at the scene, Holmes began stabbing the victim who died at the scene from his injuries.
Holmes then re-entered his vehicle and fled the scene. An alert for Holmes’ vehicle was sent to the 911 dispatch center and a short time later his vehicle was identified and stopped by Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office deputies.
He was apparently injured during his earlier dispute and driving to Murray County to go to the hospital.
Holmes was apprehended by police and taken to Hamilton Medical Center to be treated before he was released into police custody.
