Vehicle Pursuit Ends in Crash in Eton Following Attempted Traffic Stop

WHITFIELD COUNTY, Ga. — A vehicle pursuit that began in Whitfield County ended in a crash in Eton after a driver fled from an attempted traffic stop Monday, according to authorities.

In a news release issued May 18, the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office said deputies assisted the Varnell Police Department after a driver fled from officers attempting a traffic stop on Cleveland Highway near Big D’s Flea Market.

Police initially attempted to stop the vehicle for reckless driving and failure to maintain lane, authorities said.

The driver continued fleeing until the vehicle crashed on Highway 286 in Eton.

The Georgia State Patrol is assisting with the investigation into the crash.
