Two Men Arrested After More Than Two Pounds of Suspected Methamphetamine Found During Elbert County Traffic Stop

ELBERT COUNTY, Ga. — Two men were arrested following a traffic stop in Bowman that led to the seizure of more than two pounds of suspected methamphetamine, according to the Elbert County Sheriff’s Office.

The traffic stop occurred on the evening of Wednesday, July 15, 2026, when troopers with the Georgia State Patrol and investigators with the Elbert County Sheriff’s Office stopped a vehicle in the parking lot of a Dollar General store in Bowman.

Authorities said the occupants consented to a search of the vehicle. During the search, officers discovered a grocery bag containing more than two pounds of suspected methamphetamine.

Following the investigation, Jeremy Davis was charged with trafficking in methamphetamine, possession of a firearm during the commission of certain crimes, use of a firearm by a convicted felon during the commission of a crime, DUI, speeding, failure to maintain lane, and driving without a license in his possession.

Darrell Abercrombie was charged with trafficking in methamphetamine, possession of a firearm during the commission of certain crimes, possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, and drugs not in the original container, a misdemeanor.

Both men were transported to the Elbert County Detention Center.

In a statement, Sheriff Melvin “Marty” Callaway commended the officers involved, thanking members of both agencies for their commitment to removing dangerous drugs from the community. He said the case demonstrates the importance of strong cooperation between law enforcement agencies in keeping communities safe.
