The Murray County Board of Education voted Monday to move forward with a plan to give certain employees a credit cards. The program will start in February.
“It will be a slow roll-out,” said Kathy Smith, director of finance.
Department heads will be the first to get the cards, which will be issued through Chase and PC Morgan. They will have a low-limit and paid in full monthly with no recurring interest. The limit will be at $5,000.
“Some vendors don’t want to accept checks, so this is a way to help with that and employee travel, school district expenses.”

The board of education voted to extend Superintendent Steve Loughridge through June 30, 2022 with no change in pay.
Bus Drivers needed
The Murray County Board of Education is still looking for bus drivers. The county will train them to meet the requirements. Drivers are required a passenger CDL with a safety endorsement.
Other board news
The board voted to purchase two maintenance vans from Ware Chevrolet for a total of $51,748 or $25,879 each.
