RCSO statement of Continuity of Command

PRESS RELEASE – With the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s arrest of Sheriff Chad Nichols, and the coinciding conditions of his bond, which state “he not be involved in any law enforcement activity in his capacity as sheriff,” the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office will rely on Major Beth Darnell as its “Acting In-Charge.”

Major Darnell has been employed with the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office for 14 years, has attended Chiefs Training through the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police, and maintains Georgia Post certifications in Supervision and Management. Major Darnell currently oversees the Detention Center and Court Services operations.

“The Rabun County Sheriff’s Office staff has faith in the leadership of its command staff members,” said Public Information Officer Kevin Angell. “We will continue to be a full-service agency that continuously supports our community.”
