JASPER, Ga. — A Jasper resident is $250,000 richer after winning a top prize through the Georgia Lottery during the Independence Day holiday weekend.
According to the Georgia Lottery, the winning ticket was purchased through the Georgia Lottery mobile app for the Jumbo Bucks Triple Play game on July 3. The player claimed a prize of $250,000.
The Jasper winner was among several Georgians who claimed significant lottery prizes over the holiday week.
The largest prize of the week went to an Albany player, who won the Fantasy 5 jackpot worth $290,307 through the Georgia Lottery mobile app on July 2.
Meanwhile, two Powerball players in Georgia also scored substantial prizes. A ticket purchased at a Country Food store on Redan Road in Stone Mountain matched four of the five white-ball numbers in the July 1 drawing, winning $50,000.
Another ticket sold at the Altama Connector in Brunswick matched four of the five white-ball numbers with the Power Play 2x multiplier in the July 4 drawing, earning a $100,000 prize.
As excitement builds, the multi-state jackpots continue to grow. Monday night’s Powerball drawing features an estimated jackpot of $416 million, while Tuesday night’s Mega Millions drawing is expected to reach approximately $576 million.
The Georgia Lottery says proceeds from ticket sales benefit educational programs throughout the state.
