Historic bell stolen from 168-year old black church

MADISON COUNTY, Ga. – A historic bell has been stolen from Waggoners Grove Baptist Church in Madison County Georgia.

Waggoners Grove Baptist Church was established in 1855, making it the oldest black church in Madison County.

The bell, was stolen from the property sometime between March 19 through March 21.

Churchgoers, Madison County, and locals are asking for help in seeing the safe return of the bell.

Madison County Sheriff’s Office release the following statement.

”The Sheriff’s Office is seeking any information regarding an antique bell stolen from Waggoners Grove Baptist Church between 03/19-03/21/2023. If you have any information, please contact Inv. Chris Guest at 706-795-6220 or by email at cguest@madisonco.us.”
