HARALSON COUNTY, Ga. – Haralson County Sheriff’s Office is now asking for helping in locating a man that assaulted his ex-girlfriend and set fire to her house.
According to HCSO, the incident took place around 8:30 a.m., on Sept. 21.
Haralson County Sheriff’s Office and Haralson County Fire Department were both dispatched to the 600 block of Nitra Road after a 911 called was placed referencing a domestic dispute.
Deputies were advised that a male was also setting the house on fire. HCFD was able to extinguish the fire and deputies then began to investigate what had taken place.
“It was discovered that Joseph Burns broke into his ex-girlfriend’s residence and assaulted her by striking her in the head. When 911 was called about the ongoing assault, Burns threatened to burn down the house and set a fire in the kitchen, not far from the room the victim’s special needs son was sleeping in. When the victim got her child out of the home, Burns came out and struck her in the head several more times in front of witnesses,” according to HCSO.
Burns fled the scene when he heard sirens approaching. He then took off into the woods and deputies conducted a search for him in the near by area but he was not located.
As of today, he still has not been located, which is why HCSO is asking for the public’s help in locating Burns.
