Habersham County Names Manager Sole Finalist,
Chairman, and Vice-Chairman
CLARKESVILLE – Yesterday, the Habersham County Board of Commissioners named Alicia Vaughn as the sole finalist for the Habersham County Manager position.
Mrs. Vaughn has served as the interim manager since July. Vaughn has over 14 years of government management experience and has been strongly supported by Habersham County staff and the community.
“Alicia has done an outstanding job since she has been interim manager and has met every challenge with a great attitude. She will do a great job,” said Chairman Bruce Palmer.
“After looking at many applicants, submitted to us by Carl Vinson, we got down to three and selected Alicia Vaughn. Her knowledge, experience, zeal, and proven dedication have resulted in a job well done. I am very proud of the job she has done. I am excited to work with her. I want to thank the other candidates that applied, but in the end, weighing everything, Mrs. Vaughn is the right choice,” said Vice-Chairman Bruce Harkness.
“In the short time Alicia has been with us, she has more than fulfilled the role of county manager and proven herself to the public, employees, municipalities, and elected officials. She has been welcomed into our community as if she has always been here. She is the right manager for us,” said Commissioner Dustin Mealor.
“I’m very pleased to finally make the county manager position permanent. In my opinion, we were lucky to have a candidate of Mrs. Vaughn’s caliber apply. I think the main qualities we want in any manager would be strong leadership, a strong financial background, and economic development experience. She has all of these but most important, every county employee I have spoken with, speaks very highly of her. If you’re going to lead any organization, the people you’re leading must believe in you and trust you. I think the future of the county is in good hands. I look forward to working with her,” said Commissioner Ty Akins.
During the meeting, the Habersham County Board of Commissioners voted 4-1 to appoint Bruce Palmer as commission chairman and reappoint Bruce Harkness as vice-chairman.
