TOCCOA, Ga. — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is investigating the death of a Toccoa woman after she was found deceased in her home over the weekend.
According to the GBI, the Toccoa Police Department requested the agency’s assistance in the investigation.
Officers with the Toccoa Police Department were dispatched to a residence on Cumberlin Drive at approximately 3:15 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 1, after receiving a report of a woman found deceased inside the home. The woman was identified as Candice Lynn Smith, 44, of Toccoa. Authorities said she was discovered by a family member.
Smith’s body will be transported to the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office, where an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause and manner of death.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
