WALKER COUNTY, Ga. – A former Walker County Sheriff’s Office deputy has been arrested following a Georgia Bureau of Investigation probe into allegations that he improperly accessed criminal history information and distributed materials from active investigations.
Amadou Diaw, 33, of LaFayette, was arrested Oct. 22 and booked into the Walker County Jail, according to the GBI.
The investigation began Sept. 30, when the Walker County Sheriff’s Office asked the GBI to investigate allegations that Diaw had misused the Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC) to obtain criminal history information.
According to the GBI, investigators determined that Diaw illegally accessed and obtained criminal history information through GCIC. Agents also determined during the investigation that he distributed body-camera footage and photographs connected to active investigations.
Diaw is charged with unauthorized disclosure of criminal history record information, computer theft, computer trespass, violation of oath of office and misdemeanor obstruction.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the GBI Tipline at 800-597-TIPS (8477), submit information through the GBI’s online tip system, or use the See Something, Send Something mobile application.
Once the investigation is complete, the case will be turned over to the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
