Woman Charged in Domestic-Related Shooting in Whitfield County

WHITFIELD COUNTY, Ga. – A woman has been arrested following a domestic-related shooting in Whitfield County that left a man seriously injured, according to authorities.

The Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office reported deputies were dispatched to Boyd Road, off Beaverdale Road, at approximately 8:50 p.m. on April 15, 2026, after receiving a 911 call from the victim, Jeffery Perkins. Perkins told dispatchers he had been shot multiple times by his wife.

When deputies arrived, they found Perkins at the residence suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was airlifted to Erlanger for treatment and is reported to be in stable condition.

Authorities arrested Rita Perkins in connection with the incident. She has been charged with aggravated assault under Georgia law, as well as possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

Investigators with the sheriff’s office said the case remains active and is still under investigation.
