Traffic Stop Leads to Drug and Firearm Arrests on New Year’s Eve

PRESS RELEASE – On December 31, 2025, Deputy Dustin Smith observed a vehicle failing to maintain its lane by crossing the center line of travel and fog line multiple times, so a traffic stop was initiated.

Deputy Smith quickly found out that the driver, Jamie Ray Russell, had an expired registration and a suspended license.

Deputy Smith instructed Mr. Russell to step out of the vehicle to which he complied.

Russell then consented to a search of his person, and Deputy Smith discovered a glass pipe containing suspected methamphetamine.

Russell was then placed in handcuffs, and at that time, Russell informed Deputy Smith that there was a firearm located in the vehicle.

Deputy Smith confirmed by running Russell’s information that he is convicted felon.

The passenger of the vehicle, Bailey McAdams, was then advised to exit the vehicle due to the firearm inside.

McAdams provided her information to Deputy Smith, and Dispatch confirmed that McAdams had outstanding felony warrants.

McAdams was also placed in handcuffs.

Russell consented to a vehicle search where a rifle, suspected methamphetamine, and drug-related objects were located.

Jamie Ray Russell was arrested and charged with Felony, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon, Possession of Firearm During Commission of a Crime, Possession of Drug Related Objects, Driving While License Suspended, Expired Registration, Failure to Maintain Lane, and Tag Light Violation.

Bailey McAdams was arrested and charged with Felony, Failure to Appear, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Related Objects, and Seatbelt Violation.
