Pursuit of ATV leads to two arrests and recovery of stolen property

HARALSON COUNTY, Ga. – On Monday, February 19, 2024, Sgt. Trenton Benson of Haralson County Sheriff Office Crime Suppression Unit was conducting proactive patrols on Winters Road when he observed a Polaris Ranger side by side with no taillights.

Sgt. Benson attempted to conduct a traffic stop but Ranger picked up speed, so a pursuit was initiated.

The chase entered Paulding County where the Polaris attempted a sharp turn onto Pleasant Grove Road and contact was made between Sgt. Benson’s patrol car and the Ranger.

At that time, the driver jumped out and took off on foot and after a short foot chase, he was apprehended by Sgt. Benson.

Deputy Jarrett Chandler was backing up Sgt. Benson and he detained the passenger in the Ranger.

During the investigation of the case, the passenger was found to have multiple active warrants.

The Polaris Ranger was discovered to have been stolen out of Paulding County, so it was recovered by deputies.

Travis Richard Womack, a 38-year-old W/M out of Dallas, GA is now charged with Fleeing and Attempting to Elude, Theft by Receiving Stolen Property, Possession of a Firearm by Convicted Felon, Removal or Alteration of Identification and Obstruction.

Abby Michelle White, a 26-year-old W/F out of Temple, GA was arrested for her three Felony Probation Violation warrants and she is also facing one count of Theft by Receiving Stolen Property.

I am very proud of the continued efforts by our Crime Suppression Unit.”
