FANNIN COUNTY, Ga. – Raymond Akins, age 66, of Blue Ridge, GA, has been arrested following a joint drug investigation conducted by the Fannin County Sheriff’s Office, the Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office, the Department of Community Supervision, the FBI Conasauga Safe Streets Task Force and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office.
Police charged Akins with the following:
On November 8, 2023, police executed a search warrant at Akins’ home in Blue Ridge, GA. This came after a yearlong investigation into the sale and distribution of illegal drugs at the home. During the execution of the search warrant, police seized about 16 kilograms of suspected methamphetamine, 900 grams of suspected marijuana, 45 firearms, and money.
Akins was booked into the Fannin County Detention Center.
Police issued additional arrest warrants for Raymond Akins’s son, Cody Akins.
The Fannin County Sheriff’s Office, Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office, the Department of Community Supervision, FBI Conasuaga Safe Streets, and the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office conducted this investigation to make an impact on the current street level drug distribution within Fannin County and promote a safer place for productive citizens.
