Featured Stories December 20, 2023 , by Emma DunnOn Friday, December 15, 2023, former Haralson County Sheriff’s Office employee Jada Lee Pike was booked into the Haralson County Detention Center for Violation of Oath of Office and Theft by Taking.
Last week, the Haralson County Grand Jury Indicted Pike on these charges and she was allowed to turn herself in this morning.
These charges stem from an investigation that began in 2021 after Sheriff Stacy Williams took office and had a thorough audit conducted on all Sheriff’s Office accounts.
Special Investigators were assigned to open this investigation when discrepancies were discovered during the audit in the Haralson County Sheriff’s Office inmate account.
For the last two years, they have worked on this case carefully until it was ready to be turned over to the District Attorney’s Office.
The investigation clearly showed that Pike embezzled a significant amount of money from the inmate account during a two-year period before Sheriff Williams took office.
“Since I have taken office, we have fired multiple employees and several of them have faced criminal prosecution. This past year, we sent two former jailers to prison for their criminal acts,” states Sheriff Stacy Williams. “I have said from the beginning that we must hold ourselves accountable first, and we have worked hard to do just that. Even though these funds were stolen before I took office, we still must maintain that accountability.”
