Eight people arrested and ‘drug house’ shut down

HARALSON COUNTY, Ga. – On Friday, October 20, 2023, members of the Northwest Georgia Drug Task Force, the Haralson County Sheriff’s Office, the Bremen Police Department and the Buchanan Police Department served a search warrant at 110 College Circle, Buchanan, GA.

This investigation began several months ago after we received a number of confidential tips about drug activity at the home.

One of the issues that concerned the citizens who complained was that the home is directly across the road from Buchanan Elementary School.

The Northwest Georgia Drug Task Force (previously the Haralson Paulding) began an investigation that culminated with a search warrant at the property.

During the search, a quantity of methamphetamine and drug related objects were located. The homeowner, Donnie Worthy, was not home at the time of the search.

There were eight people taken into custody during this search warrant service.

Kamera Leeanne Dempsey – 49-year-old W/F out of Hiram – VGCSA Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of Drug Related Objects

The eighth person, Pamela Rainey, was walking away from the residence when Law Enforcement was arriving. When her information was checked, she had a warrant out of Polk County so she was arrested and turned over to them.

The homeowner, Donnie Horace Worthy, a 67-year-old W/M out of Buchanan, was arrested on Saturday, October 21, 2023, for the charge of Maintaining a Disorderly House.

HCSO said they would like to thank the Bremen Police Department and Buchanan Police Department for their assistance during this warrant service. The investigation is still ongoing so no further information will be released at this time.

“The most concerning part of these tips was the close proximity of this house to an elementary school in our county,” stated Sheriff Stacy Williams. “The fact that this poison was so close to children in our county is unacceptable. I urge citizens to keep submitting drug tips through email or our website. If you send a tip in, we will see it and we will investigate it. Drug investigations do take time, so please be patient. Our goal is to provide safety and tranquility to our communities.”
