ACU Foundation Releases its 2017 Ratings of Congress
ALEXANDRIA, VA – The American Conservative Union Foundation (ACUF) released its 47th Annual Federal Ratings of Congress and announced that Rep. Doug Collins is among the recipients of ACUF’s Award for Conservative Excellence.
Each year, ACUF produces an annual scorecard based on the voting records of members in both the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives. All members of Congress are issued a score and awards are presented to those members who score an 80 percent or higher.
Rep. Collins (90% ACU Lifetime) earned 93% for the 2017 session.
“We applaud Doug Collins for his critical role in everything from intellectual property right to prison reform,” said ACU Chairman Matt Schlapp. “He is a cherished conservative ally.”
“In Northeast Georgia, we value smaller government, lower taxes, free markets, and the sanctity of every human life,” said Rep. Collins. “The American Conservative Union shares these priorities, and I’m honored to receive its recognition for conservative excellence as I fight for the values that matter to the communities in Elberton, Blue Ridge, and everywhere in between.”
This session’s scorecard is made up of 25 bills in the U.S. House of Representatives and 21 bills in the U.S. Senate. The bills selected cover a wide range of issues including fiscal and economic, social and cultural, and national security, and are designed to reflect how an individual views the role of government in an individual’s life.
This year some of the key issues ACU Foundation scored include:
ACUF is the sister organization of the American Conservative Union, the nation’s original conservative organization, and has for more than fifty years educated and activated the conservative movement through its ratings programs, policy centers and educational events such as the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), the largest annual gathering of conservatives in the nation.
