DADE COUNTY, Ga. – A large law enforcement presence near the Tom Arrendale Interchange Monday evening stemmed from a domestic violence incident, according to the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were dispatched shortly after 5 p.m. to a business on Toccoa Highway following a report to E-911 that initially described the situation as a carjacking.
However, investigators later determined that the call had been misconstrued by a third-party witness, and the incident was, in fact, domestic in nature.
The sheriff’s office confirmed that there is no danger to the public, though a significant police response was visible in the area as deputies and investigators worked to secure the scene and gather information.
Authorities said charges are pending, but no further details have been released as the investigation remains ongoing.
