Brent Cox, Julie Tressler will debate Wednesday

FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — Brent Cox and Julie Tressler will face off Wednesday when the Forsyth County Republican Party hosts a candidate forum at the Forsyth Conference Center, 3410 Ronald Reagan Blvd. . Doors open at 6 pm. The debate begins at 6:30 pm.

Brent Cox

Cox defeated Tressler in a six-candidate General Primary Election last month by about 1,000 votes but failed to reach the 50 percent required to avoid a runoff.

He is a former coach, teacher, and successful businessman who designed, engineered, and sold ventilation hood systems to the food service industry globally.

A graduate of the University of Georgia, he embarked on a career as teacher and football coach and has had great success at the high school and middle school level in Forsyth County and Dawson County.

He has called for a comprehensive, cost-effective plan for the next 10-15 years similar to the comprehensive plan Forsyth County is currently working on that will bring more jobs, embrace economic opportunity without raising taxes.

As a former teacher,  he said he will advocate for parents to have more choices and involvement in their children’s education.

Julie Tressler

Tressler is a successful business woman, former President of the Women’s Republican Party of Forsyth County State Director of the Georgia Association of REALTORS. She has worked for many years to support conservative leaders and causes.

Key issues for Tressler, include restoring fiscal sanity to state government, protecting Georgians’ constitutional right to keep and bear arms, voter integrity, supporting law enforcement and protecting students from the indoctrination of hateful ideologies like critical race theory.

With regard to restoring fiscal sanity to state government she noted that the most competitive states in the nation have already eliminated the state income tax and said it is time Georgia did the same.

She has pledged to oppose all infringements on our constitutional right to keep and bear arms and red flag laws, attempts to indoctrinate students in hateful ideologies like critical race theory (CRT).

On voter integrity she says voters must be required to present an ID to vote and must be U.S citizens.
