FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — As the nation teeters on the brink of a full-blown recession, Forsyth Commissioners are expected to ask citizens to pass a one-cent sales transportation tax in November.
When the Board meets in a work session Tuesday (July 26), commissioners will consider approval of an Intergovernmental Agreement with the City of Cumming regarding the calling and funding distribution for a Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (TSPLOST) and a resolution calling for a Nov. 8, TSPLOST Referendum.
Commissioners will also consider a lease agreement between Forsyth County, United Athletics, Inc. d/b/a United Futbol Academy related to the provision of soccer programming at the newly-acquired Polo Fields soccer facility and a Letter of Interest (LOI) Solicitation for the Operational Lease of the Polo Fields Equestrian Center.
Another important agenda item is the proposed Water Storage Agreement between the State of Georgia, the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners, and the City of Cumming related to the County/City receiving 21.26% of that storage allotment between the State and the US Government in the Lake Lanier water storage basin.
