YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. — A heavy law enforcement presence is underway in the Ashland Cove area of Young Harris as authorities respond to a barricaded subject, according to the Towns County Sheriff’s Office.
Officials said one child has been safely released from the residence. The subject is believed to be the only individual still inside the home at this time.
Agencies assisting at the scene include the Georgia State Patrol SWAT team and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
The situation remains active and ongoing. Authorities are asking the public to avoid the Ashland Cove area to allow emergency personnel to operate safely.
