NORTHEAST GEORGIA — Republican U.S. Rep. Andrew Clyde has secured another term in Congress after the Associated Press called the race in Georgia’s 9th Congressional District Tuesday night.

Clyde defeated Democratic challenger Caitlyn Gegen in the Nov. 3 general election, earning a fourth term representing Northeast Georgia in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Clyde, who first took office in January 2021, has represented the 9th Congressional District for the past five years. The district stretches from the Athens area through Northeast Georgia and includes communities across the region.

His Democratic opponent, Gegen, entered the race as a community organizer seeking to unseat the Republican incumbent.

Clyde’s victory allows him to continue representing Georgia’s 9th District as Republicans and Democrats compete for control of Congress in the 2026 midterm elections.

The Associated Press race call declared Clyde the winner Tuesday night.
