Top Performers On The Hardwood For The Final Week of January

Sports, Team FYN Sports

The final week of the first month of the new year brought us some great performances on the basketball court.

Gilmer County’s Jackson McVey poured in 42 points and added 22 rebounds in the Bobcats Region 7AAA victory over White County. McVey was very efficient, shooting 80% from the floor and going 83% at the charity stripe. McVey’s big night comes on the heels of another huge performance, as he scored 41 points and snagged 23 rebounds VS Fannin County.

Jordan Richerson and the Fannin County Rebels have had a pretty successful season thus far, and the sophomore guard has been a huge part of their success. In the Rebels last game VS Rockmart, Richerson led the way with 37 points, 3 rebounds, 3 steals, and 2 assists.

Jude Ellis has the Union County Panthers in poll position in Region 8AA. In the Panthers battle for first place in the Region VS Banks County, Ellis led all scorers with 31 points as Union defeated Banks County 84-67.

Our only WNC player on the list this week, Senior Braxton Rickett gave the Andrew’s Wildcats 22 points on 11/11 shooting in their blowout win over Summit Charter.

Bella Hopkins helped the Dragonettes move to 20-2 on the year with her 22 point performance VS Lumpkin County.
