WASHINGTON—Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) has announed his retirement from legislating in order to return to the justice system. Rep. Doug Collins (R-Ga.) released the following statement in response:

“The pool of individuals with Trey Gowdy’s skill set is small. His abilities as a legislator and prosecutor have strengthened the House Judiciary Committee that we serve on together, and I know that my good friend will continue to be an incredible agent for justice as he returns to the courtroom.”
