Southern Hills Golf Club, Hawkinsville Georgia, was the site of history for Fannin County High School and the Fannin County Golf Program on May 18th 2021.
Lainey Panter made Fannin County history by capturing the AA Girls State Golf Individual Championship ( Low Medalist) with rounds of 77 and 75. Lainey is the 1st Golf State Women’s Champion in School history.
Panter entered the final round of the 2 day event 1 shot back trailing Blair Maner from Lovett. Maner, shot a 76 on Monday to have a 1 shot lead over Lainey.
Lainey would not be denied on Tuesday. A quick recap of her final round on Tuesday. Despite a bogey on hole 1 of the final round, Lainey ,would par the 2nd hole and Birdie the 3rd hole. The momentum was starting to swing in the direction of the young Lady Rebel as she finished the front 9 with a 38 on a very tough course.
Almost near magic occurred on the par 3 11th as Lainey missed a hole in one by inches.
Lainey would tap in for Birdie at the 11th. Panter would also birdie the 13th hole and ended up finishing the back 9 with a 37 for a 18 hole final round score of 75.
Lainey Panter finished 4 shots clear of 2nd place Blair Maner from Lovett after trailing by 1 to win the State Championship.
Team FYN Sports will be sitting down with Lainey this week to film an exclusive interview on her home course. The State Champion Interview with Lainey will air Live on Team Fyn Sports Facebook Page on Tuesday June 1st at 7pm.

The Lady Rebels team ended up finishing 7th in the state.
The team of Lainey Panter, Cady Finley, Raven Porter and Evie Webb placed 7th in State with a score of 384 . A huge team accomplishment by these Lady Rebels. These girls made history as well and added their teams accomplishment into what was arguably the greatest all around year for Fannin County Sports as a whole.
