Rep. Tom Graves Votes to Send Critical Defense Legislation Back to President’s Desk

News release:

Washington, D.C. – Rep. Tom Graves (R-GA-14) today voted for and the House passed the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2016 (S. 1356), annual legislation authorizing critical funding for the military. Congress passed this bipartisan legislation earlier this year but had to pass it again after the president vetoed it on October 22, 2015 – the first time it was sent to his desk.  After today’s vote, Rep. Graves issued the following statement:

“Last month, President Obama turned his back on our military, our troops and their families by vetoing this critical national defense bill. Playing politics with our brave men and women in uniform is reckless and unacceptable. By sending this bill back to the president’s desk, we’re giving him another chance to do the right thing for our soldiers and their families. After nearly seven years of the Obama administration’s weak commitment to our military readiness and failed foreign policy, we must reclaim a strong national defense as a top priority. This bill is a big step in the right direction. It authorizes the resources necessary to protect our nation today and prepare for the threats of tomorrow.”
