Hiawassee Police Chief Sworn Into Office

Hiawassee Police Department’s acting Chief, Paul Smith, was officially sworn in at a City Hall ceremony on Tuesday, August 1. District Attorney Jeff Langley administered the Oath of Office to Smith during the City Council’s regular monthly meeting.

Chief Smith is a graduate of Towns County Comprehensive, Young Harris College, Kennesaw State University, and Cobb County Department of Public Safety.

Smith served as an officer with the Cobb County Police Department for three years and as a deputy with the Towns County Sheriff’s Office from March, 2009 until June, 2010. Chief Smith has worked with the Hiawassee Police Department since 2010.
