(Toccoa, GA) – On Tuesday, September 24, 2019, at approximately 3:30 PM, the Georgia Bureau
of Investigation was requested by the Toccoa Police Department (TPD) to investigate an officer
involved shooting.

Two TPD officers responded to a 911 call near an abandoned factory on West Spring Street in
Toccoa. A civilian called 911 when he recognized Kenton Deshaun Hall, age 48. Hall had
warrants for his arrest for the crimes of murder, kidnapping, and aggravated assault. Hall was
armed with a knife when the officers arrived on the scene and did not comply with officers’
orders. During the encounter, one of the officers fired his weapon twice at Hall, striking him
once. Hall was transported by ambulance to a local hospital where he remains in serious
condition. The officers and civilian were not injured during the encounter.
The GBI will continue its independent investigation. When the investigation is complete, it will
be turned over to the Mountain Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for review.
