More than 5,000 registered voters in Forsyth County have filed for change address

FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. – The Board of Voter Registrations and Elections voted 3-2 today to uphold a challenge by State Representative Marc Morris (R-Cumming) that states that 5,128 people registered to vote in the Jan. 5 General Election Runoff and Special Election Runoff have filed for a change of address, indicating they may have changed their residence.

The Board is comprised of two Republican and two Democrat appointees with Barbara Luth serving as the Chief Registrar and Chairman. The vote was split along Party lines with Chairwoman Luth casting the deciding vote.

Forsyth County Republican Party Chairman Patrick Bell explained that Morris and others ran the voter rolls through the National Change of Address database found 5,128 people who submitted a change of address card, indicating they may not be living in Forsyth County.

“They then researched 100 names in Florida and North Carolina and found that 73 had either registered to vote or bought property. “We’re not saying those people have done anything fraudulent. We don’t know if they have tried to vote yet. If they do vote, they are now flagged and they will have to verify to the Board of Elections that they are indeed a resident of Forsyth County.

“Even though many Democrats alleged this is a partisan effort, it is my contention that there is nothing more important than doing everything possible to ensure every ballot cast is valid and legitimate,” Bell said. “It is important to note that these people were not purged from the list but rather will simply have to prove they live in Forsyth County should they vote. At the end of the day, there is nothing more sacred to our Republic than the process by which leaders are selected and every citizen, regardless of party affiliation, should demand the process be secure, protected and the results are legitimate.

“We need to send a message that election fraud is not going to be accepted or ignored in Forsyth,” he continued. Bell added that he would do everything in his power to make sure that anyone that has fraudulently voted in Forsyth County would be investigated for felony election fraud and appropriately charged if they have done so.”
