Woman’s Body Found in Wooded Area Near Bald Ridge

CUMMING, Ga. — Authorities are investigating after a woman’s body was discovered in a grassy area behind several businesses and a nearby neighborhood in Cumming.

According to police, officers located the body in a wooded area near Bald Ridge Road and Pirkle Ferry Road. Investigators from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation were called to assist with processing the scene.

Witnesses reported a large law enforcement presence as the investigation unfolded. Several people said they saw as many as 20 patrol vehicles in the area, along with drones and helicopters being used during the search and investigation.

The Forsyth County Coroner said the body appeared to have been at the location for several weeks before it was discovered.

Authorities have not released the identity of the woman, and her cause of death has not yet been determined. Officials also have not said whether foul play is suspected or how the woman may have ended up in the wooded area. No information about potential suspects has been made public.

People who work nearby said the scene was alarming.

Officials said an autopsy is being conducted by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to determine the woman’s cause and manner of death.

Local authorities said more information will be released once those results and additional forensic evidence become available.
