FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — A woman has been charged with negligent homicide in the first degree, reckless driving and DUI in a July 28 wreck that killed her 6-year-old daughter.

At approximately 3:15 p.m., Stacie Reed, 33, was driving a Toyota Camry northbound on Crystal Cove Trail when, for an unknown reason, she veered into the southbound lane. When she attempted to correct her vehicle back onto the roadway, she struck a Chevrolet Impala driven by 19-year-old Hunter Carter head on.

Carter was taken to a local hospital in stable condition. Reid, who was not wearing her seatbelt, was listed in serious condition but expected to survive and her daughter, who was unresponsive at the scene, was listed in critical condition.  The child later died at the hospital.

The investigation revealed that Ms. Reid was DUI at the time of the crash. She was taken into custody on August 31, 2022 and is being held at the Forsyth County Jail on no bond.
