DALTON, Ga. — Deputies with the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office arrested suspects connected to an alleged multi-state shoplifting ring following an investigation at a Dalton Walmart earlier this month.
According to the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office, the arrest occurred Monday, Feb. 2, 2026, after deputies received information from Walmart loss prevention staff regarding a suspected theft at the store located on East Walnut Avenue.
Authorities said deputies were able to quickly identify a vehicle believed to be connected to the incident. A member of the Sheriff’s Office Crime Suppression Unit located the vehicle within minutes and conducted a traffic stop.
During the investigation, deputies reportedly found more than $4,000 worth of merchandise inside the vehicle. Investigators later confirmed the items had been stolen from Walmart locations across multiple states, suggesting the suspects may be connected to an organized retail theft operation.
Officials said the case underscores the collaboration between the Sheriff’s Office and local businesses in addressing retail theft and other criminal activity.
The investigation remains ongoing, and additional details, including the identities of those involved, have not yet been released.
