Decauter- The Union County Lady Panthers traveled to Columbia High School to take on the Lady Eagles in round one of the GHSA AA State Playoffs. The region 8 #4 seed Lady Panthers were able to pull off the upset of the region 6 #1 seed Columbia Lady Eagles by a score of 54-49.
Lady Panthers star post player and UNG commit Ava Hunter was the leading scoring, pouring in 27 points on the night. She also became Union County High Schools leading scorer, as her final bucket last night gave her 1,602 points for her career, passing the previous mark of 1,602 held by former UGA guard Candace Williams.
Up next for the Lady Panthers is a second round matchup with the winner of the Vidalia/Laney matchup which will be played later today.
