Two Arrested After Traffic Stop Leads to Methamphetamine Discovery in Toccoa

TOCCOA, Ga. — Two men were arrested early Saturday morning after a traffic stop in Toccoa led to the discovery of suspected methamphetamine, according to the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a gray Volkswagen SUV at approximately 3 a.m. on June 20 along West Whitman Street for a traffic violation.

According to authorities, the driver parked the vehicle in an empty lot before exiting and running toward the roadway. Deputies made contact with the driver, identified as Bryterion Lacy, 21, of Toccoa, and a passenger, Jayden Floyd, 21, of Rosedale, Maryland.

While speaking with the occupants, deputies reportedly detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from both individuals. A probable cause search of the vehicle led to the discovery of suspected marijuana residue throughout the front floorboards.

Deputies also searched the immediate area surrounding the traffic stop and located a plastic bag containing approximately 25.4 grams of suspected methamphetamine.

Lacy and Floyd were arrested and transported to the Stephens County Detention Center without incident.

Lacy was charged with possession of a controlled substance and two traffic violations. He remains incarcerated on a $7,000 bond.

Floyd was charged with possession of a controlled substance and remains in custody on a $5,000 bond.

The case remains under investigation by the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office.
