LAVONIA, Ga. — Three people were arrested following a traffic stop conducted by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office on July 9, and authorities say additional charges are expected.
According to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, Sheriff Scott Andrews initiated the traffic stop on East Main Street in Lavonia with assistance from deputies assigned to the Criminal Investigations and Patrol divisions.
During the stop, Kara M. Pilgrim and Justin Cody Pilgrim were taken into custody on outstanding arrest warrants.
A third individual, Marquesh Winkfield, was arrested and charged with Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute.
The sheriff’s office said the investigation remains ongoing and that additional charges are forthcoming for all three individuals. Officials indicated that more information will be released as it becomes available.
Sheriff Andrews thanked deputies from the Criminal Investigations and Patrol divisions for their assistance during the incident.
“I would like to thank the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations and Patrol Divisions for their assistance in this matter and ensuring that dangerous items discarded by the subjects in this incident did not end up in the hands of the children of Franklin County,” Andrews said.
No additional details about the discarded items or the pending charges have been released.
