Threat to ‘shoot up’ Gilmer County High School is being investigated

GILMER COUNTY, Ga. – Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a threat that was written on a bathroom wall at Gilmer County High School, saying someone was planning to ‘shoot up’ the school.
Concerned individuals have stated that a written message was found on the inside of a bathroom stall threatening to shoot up the school on Thursday.
There has been some discrepency as to what date the message is actually referring to. Allegedly, the date Nov. 2 was shown to be under the message in a video that has been shared online, although some say that date was added later and the intended date is today, Oct. 26.
This has led many parents and students to be very concerned with safety regarding the high school.
The Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office along with the Gilmer County School System issued a statement regarding an alleged threat to Gilmer County High School:
“We have investigated a report of a threat written on a bathroom wall at Gilmer High School. Although there is currently no credible evidence of an actual threat that would endanger students, please know that our administrators and law enforcement partners are remaining vigilant and continuing to monitor the situation.”
