STEPHENS COUNTY, Ga. – At approximately 4:55 p.m. Saturday, July 25, 2026, deputies with the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a 911 call regarding an active physical domestic dispute at a residence on North Currahee Lane in Toccoa. Deputies were informed by 911 dispatchers that a male aggressor, later identified as Jeffrey Scott Perry, was on scene and attempting to leave.

Deputies arrived at 4:57 p.m. and observed Perry fleeing the property in a silver Chrysler Sebring. Deputies initiated their emergency equipment in an attempt to stop Perry. After failing to stop, deputies began pursuing Perry onto Carnes Creek Road.

Perry failed to yield to multiple traffic signs and signals, leading deputies in a pursuit along Mize Road toward Black Mountain Road near the Habersham/Stephens County line. Perry maintained high speeds, failing to maintain his lane and nearly causing multiple vehicle accidents. A BOLO was sent to the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) and Georgia State Patrol. Out of concern for public safety, SCSO deputies terminated the pursuit approximately 5:03 p.m. before reaching the Habersham County line.

Deputies then returned to the 911 caller’s address and spoke with two individuals who stated the male was inside the residence without permission and became physically aggressive when asked to leave.

At approximately 6:50 p.m., Stephens County 911 was notified that HCSO deputies made contact with Perry’s vehicle. According to witnesses, Perry pulled into the backyard of a residence in Clarkesville, Ga., and stated he ran out of gas after running from the law in Toccoa. Perry then walked into the woods behind the residence. At approximately 7:15 p.m., HCSO deputies located and arrested Perry following a successful track by an HCSO K-9. SCSO deputies responded and took Perry into custody. Perry was then transported to the Stephens County Detention Center without further incident.

Perry, 37 of Toccoa, is also a person of interest in an incident involving a suspicious person which occurred early Saturday morning. 911 callers described an individual matching Perry’s description loitering around a property on Richardson Street in Toccoa, then being picked up by the driver of another vehicle. When deputies arrived on scene, they made contact with a silver Chrysler Sebring which was later determined to be the same vehicle Perry was driving while fleeing law enforcement Saturday afternoon. At this time, no charges have been filed against Perry in reference to the incident on Richardson Street.

Jeffrey Scott Perry remains in jail on a $14,000 bond. He has been charged with Fleeing or Attempting to Elude Law Enforcement Officer, two counts of Simple Battery, three counts of Failure to Maintain Lane, Reckless Driving, Failure to Obey Stop Sign, Failure to Obey Yield Sign, and two counts of Failure to Obey Traffic Signal or Light.

Sheriff Rusty Fulbright extends his gratitude to Sheriff Robin Krockum and the HCSO for their quick response and cooperation during this incident. Their efforts helped lead to Perry’s swift and safe capture.
